初心を忘れない上級者

 

学生の皆さん、進学、進級おめでとうございます！全国的に、今週、入学式や始業式を迎えられる学生さんが多いのではないでしょうか？

「スキー初心者レベル。素人の滑りです。」と言いながら、誰も滑っていない上級者コースをスイスイ滑り降りてこられるお客様。なんだ、「初心を忘れない上級者」って意味だったんですね。どんなに上達しても、どんなに慣れても、初心を忘れないって、とても大事ですよね。新年度を迎えられた皆さんも、今の気持ちをずっと忘れずにいて欲しいです。ちなみに、こちらのお客様、ちゃんとヘルメットも被っていらっしゃいました。素晴らしい☆

Congratulations, students, on your admission/progress!  I guess many students across the country will be celebrating their entrance and commencement ceremonies this week.

"I'm just a beginner.  I'm an amateur skier," said one of the visitors, but then he skied down the advanced course, where no one else was skiing.  I see...  He meant to say that he was an advanced skier who never forgets his first intension or beginners mindset.  No matter how much you improve or no matter how much you get used to, it's very important not to forget your original intention and beginners mindset.  I hope all of you who have started the new life will keep this feeling in mind.  By the way, he did not forget to wear a helmet, either.  What an excellent skier!

上級者コースのRoute 2、Route 3で、ほんの数名のスキーヤーを発見。チャレンジャーですね～。改めて、ヘルメットの着用と初心をお忘れなく…

I spotted just a few skiers on Route 2 and Route 3, the advanced courses.  They're so brave, aren't they?  Once again, don't forget to wear your helmet and to keep your beginners mindset.

場所は変わって、こちらはベースエリア。足元に咲くふきのとうに目をやったり、青空を見上げたり、あちらこちらに新たな発見や綺麗な景色がありました。「たまには視点を変えてみる。」これも大事。常日頃そう感じていたはずが、初心を忘れない上級者のお客様に言われて何故かハッとしました。私自身、初心を忘れるところだったのかも…危ない、危ない。大切なことに気づかせてくださりありがとうございました。スキー場での学びでした(笑)

So, here I am at the base area.  When I looked around my feet and looked up at the blue sky, there were new discoveries and beautiful scenery here and there.  "Sometimes, you just need to look at things from different angles."  This is also important.  I've always felt this way, but for some reason, when the advanced skier who never forgets his beginners mindset told me this, his word grasped my heart.  Maybe, I myself was about to forget my beginners mindset...  Thank you for making me realize the important things.  It was a learning experience at the ski resort (lol)
